So I finally asked our tech director to install Adobe CS6 on my computer this week. I don’t know what the hold up was. I guess I didn’t think he could make it happen. But he did, and you guys have NO idea how excited I am. No more plain jane Microsoft programs to contend with. I am totally geeking out. I still had other work to do this week, but with every spare moment, I poured over the many familiar and wonderful features and clicked on the little icons and created many silly things. My new boss is in the middle of planning a party for our admin team, and she asked me to design a logo for it. I’m laughing because neither our positions respectively call for party planning or graphic design, but here we are with our fortes, so this is amazing, and I’m so, so excited, I feel like a little girl who has received an entire collection of brand new Zoobles.
just finished season 2!
spoiler.. definitely the highlight of the entire series:
my favorite honeys <3
seeing you two always brightens my day :)
just listened to lifehouse’s latest album almeria. I used to worship this band so much. followed them since the days of no name face (‘sick cycle carousel,’ anyone?), through the glorious days of having ‘blind’ on my itunes most played at 400+ count, and rode on the heaven that is the entire who we are album. I knew jason wade’s birthdate and random personal details like the back of my hand and watched their mvs ten times a day just to stare at his face. but because who we are was so big and perfect and un-toppable, I got so disappointed with smoke & mirrors and stopped listening to them.. I really, really loved ‘from where you are’ on that album, but hated their two singles. their lyrics were no longer as relatable for me and just didn’t plunge into the roots of my soul’s emotions the way their last two albums did. also emerging during those years was the storm of pop and dance music, and lifehouse (along with similar bands) was quickly getting replaced for me with lady gaga and demi lovato and katy perry.
anyway, almeria. released late 2012, I had heard that they made quite a departure from their old sound with this one. however, it was a lot better than I thought it would be, and a lot less weirder (less weird?) than I anticipated. some of the songs even took me back to no name face and stanley climbfall..but in a more upbeat kind of way. lifehouse stays true to their mellow, light alternative sound but the album has pieces of oddball international/country/western/space-y sounds mixed in, and it is a bit more focused on the music, less on the lyrics (and it looks like they also jumped on the bandwagon of repeating lines over and over). overall pleasantly surprised. solid effort, guys!
here are my favorites that I just downloaded. yayy new music! :)
